The Death of Mike Brown - Missouri Ferguson

On August 9th, eighteen year old unarmed teenager Michael Brown was shot dead by officer Darren Wilson on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri.  Emanuel Freeman otherwise known as “TheePharoah” on Twitter was the first person to break the news of the shooting on social media. With four distinct tweets, Freeman introduced the world to the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. In the following days, several witnesses came forward and were interviewed by major news networks in the search for the answer to what really happened on that fateful afternoon. The town of Ferguson erupted upon learning about the murder of Mike Brown. The shooting quickly became an issue of race. Especially after the witnesses claimed Mike Brown was adhering to the police officers demands when he was shot multiple times ending in his death.
I interviewed, Derrick Bryant a student of George Mason University (GMU) and avid petitioner of Browns death. Bryant spoke of Browns death with distaste, clearly showing his disgust with the justice systems lack of indictment with police officers killing African Americans. We spoke further about his take on the judicial system for several minutes, taking about the grand juries and the effects of Michael Browns verdict. Bryant stated “The justice system does not work the same way for people of color.” The honesty of this one line, blew me he had stated at the end of the interview.
Vice News an independent online media outlet was the first to cover the situations currently taking place in Ferguson providing an in-depth video, which can be viewed below.
